Compassionate, Innovative & Tailored Support

There are things that we don’t want to happen but we have to accept, things we don’t want to know but have to learn, and people we can’t live without but have to let go.

At some point in each of our lives, we will experience grief and loss. The pain associated with loss is not exclusive to death but is felt in every other aspect of life and living, when we lose something or someone close to us.

Sudden, radical life changes, unexpected news of the loss of a loved one or something important, will have an overwhelming, profound impact on anyone. Grief is not a condition that can be “treated”. It’s a healing process that takes time—much longer than most people would expect, and requires on-going support, understanding, and friendship from family, friends, caregivers, professionals and those who have “been there.” The process is personal and unique to each griever.

Through our Relief 4 Grief Series, we will journey with you and provide the creative, compassionate care and support that each of us needs when our individual journey begins.

Our Mission

To strengthen and empower human resilience in the face of traumatic, life-changing situations

To provide support, education, training and compassionate “relief 4 Grief,” from a transcultural and holistic perspective.

To provide coping skills for children, youth, students, families, adults, professionals and agencies who are experiencing fresh and latent loss from traumatic deaths.

We provide support and counselling to anyone in need, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or religion. Understanding the diversity in culture, ethnicity and beliefs we seek

1

To journey alongside grievers of all ages.

2

To provide “creative, compassionate care and support” to all who need it.

3

To support those suffering from traumatic losses and grief-related PTSD

4

To educate grievers, caregivers and professionals in the “art of understanding, coping and comforting” grievers.

5

To raise the awareness of grief as a mental health issue and conduct further research to substantiate this premise.

Who We Are

Rev. Sky Starr has been acquainted with grief and loss before her teen years. Over the past 35 years, the reverend has made the topic a “specialized” area, blending acquired education as a nurse and teacher, combining clinical expertise as a therapist, with accumulated, experiential knowledge. The reverend works closely with traumatic losses as a first responder in communities where gun violence is a major, contributing factor.

In this capacity, CBC TV has acclaimed her among the National Champions of Change for 2010.

Rev. Sky shares her wealth of personal, empirical knowledge, creative and compassionate care to help and support others on a holistic level.
